Looking for a kayak?

Today I thought I’d write a review of some great mid priced Kayaks - Jackson kayaks.   I’ve only really focused on sea kayaks before, so it was interesting to look around and see what else was out there.  I figured if I enjoyed sea kayaking, chances are I was going to enjoy white water kayaking as well.

Well here’s what I found out about Jackson Kayaks:

Jackson Kayak construction

Jackson Kayak hulls are made of high-performance Superlinear plastic, and come outfitted with Boat Armor outfitting including a solid U-channels and center walls, thermo-formed plastic seat, a customizable mini-cell bulkhead, over-sized thigh pads, and the latest Jackson Kayak backband.   Combine this with the superior erganomic design and you have a winner - Jackson’s take out some major prizes - winner of World Cup #1 at the Garberator, and winner of Men’s, Women’s, Junior Women’s, C1 classes in the 2007 World Championships, just for a start.

Jackson Kayak history
Ok so I couldn’t find that much about the actual company history on the web - what I could find was alot of info on the Jackson family who run the business.  Now these guys are amazing - both of the kids are very involved in kayaking as a sport, and they compete (and win) often.  I really got the impression that this was not just their business, but their passion and indeed probably their life!

The range of kayaks is astonishing, and the family is constantly improving their product..  Jackson Kayaks just seem to get better and better every year.  KayakShed.com have a great range of Jacksons - and some are on special at the moment, so if you are interested at getting one of these great kayaks for a great price, they might be worth checking out.
